Meta has unveiled the second generation of its Aria glasses, developed for researchers in the field of augmented reality. Named Aria Gen 2, the new model offers important hardware and functionality innovations compared to the previous version.

Designed for advanced research areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and machine perception, the glasses stand out with their lighter design and come in eight different size options to accommodate diverse face types.
The new model features four computer vision cameras. These cameras maintain image quality in low light or overly bright environments. Depth perception has also been enhanced. The stereo distance between two cameras has nearly doubled, allowing the device to more accurately locate objects.
One of the standout innovations of Aria Gen 2 is the inward-facing sensors. Along with a special sensor that detects ambient light, there is a contact microphone that provides clearer sound recording under high noise conditions and a PPG sensor that measures heart rate.
Time synchronization is now hardware-based. This process, previously performed via software in the earlier generation, has been replaced with a more precise system that matches radio signals in the new model.
